VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.
Mac OS: right-click on VLC, choose 'Show Package Contents' and put the 'libaacs.dylib' file in 'Contents/MacOS/lib/' (create it if it does not exist). Run VLC and insert your Blu-ray disc into the Blu-ray drive, and open it with VLC, then your encrypted Blu-ray movie will start playing in VLC. Step 1: Insert the DVD you want to rip onto your Mac and launch VLC media player, click on 'File' at the top left corner of the main window, then choose 'Open Disc.' Step 2: Hit 'Open VIDEOTS / BDMV folder' tab to load the movie file after the Open Source appears.

Ensure you have the latest version of VLC Player downloaded and installed on your Mac X. VLC.app must be located in your Applications folder in order for this to work.

We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.

VLC 2.0 aka Twoflower has finally been released and is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. This new VLC release comes with faster decoding on multi-core systems, GPU, and mobile hardware, with the ability to support more file formats than its previous version. One of the major new formats include professional HD and 10bits codecs. Unlike some previous versions, VLC 2.0 is a major VLC upgrade. Let’s take a look at some of the new features and installation instructions for TwoFlower aka VLC 2.0.
Major New Features
Some of the major new features and enhancements VLC 2.0 For Mac OS X, Linux And Windows include the following:
- Broadcom Crystal HD hardware decoding
- New filters for videos and audio
- BluRay support (currently experimental)
- Improvements for MKV demuxer
- VLC 2.0 has new video outputs for Windows 7, Android, iOS and OS/2.
- VLC now has some new de-banding, grain, de-noising and anti-flickering filter.
- Speaking of filters, VLC 2.0 also comes with a new deinterlacing filter, including an Inverse Telecine algorithm.
- Another new feature includes a new re-samplers for higher audio quality.
- It also has new dynamic range compressor and karaoke filters.
- The audio core has been simplified for faster processing.

Mac OS X
You can install VLC 2.0 on Mac OS X by downloading DMG package from the link given at the end of this post. The new features that would be of interest to Mac users in particular include the following:
- A new single window interface for Mac users.
- VLC 2.0 is available in two different colors for Mac users, i.e. Lion grey and QTX black.
- VLC 2.0 has extensions support and better Mac OS X Lion integration.
- Support for QTKit devices via qt-capture and qt-sound modules.
- VLC 2.0 brings support for X 10.5 and PPC users (1080 pixels and ProRes on Dual-G5)
VLC 2.0 works on the following Mac OS X versions 10.6 and later:

- Mac OS X 10.7 Lion
Ubuntu Linux
The open source VLC 2.0 media player can be installed in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin via the Ubuntu Software Center. However, Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot users can install VLC 2.0 from the PPA given below.
One of the notable Linux specific feature that VLC 2.0 brings is support for SDI and HD-SDI cards for input on Linux.
